The Global Gag Rule states that foreign nongovernmental organizations cannot receive U.S. family planning aid if they counsel women about abortion, provide abortions, or advocate for safe abortion care—even with their own money. The Global Democracy Promotion Act would ensure that women all over the world have access to family planning resources, services, and information by prohibiting future presidents from reinstating the Global Gag Rule.

We, the undersigned, urge you to nullify the Global Gag Rule by cosponsoring the Global Democracy Promotion Act. In the past, the Global Gag Rule has denied family planning assistance to vital international women’s health clinics. Although President Obama lifted the Global Gag Rule as soon as he was elected, any president can reinstate it. We need to take action so this doesn’t happen again.
