Every American has a right to know what's in our food — including if it contains genetically engineered ingredients.
Sen. Barbara Boxer (D-CA) has introduced S. 809, the Genetically Engineered Food Right-to-Know Act, a bill that would do what more than 90 percent of Americans want: require foods with genetically engineered ingredients to be labeled.
Let Congress know today that you want them to support this critical legislation.
To: Sen. Jack Reed, Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse, Sen. Barbara Mikulski, Sen. Patrick Leahy, Sen. Maria Cantwell, Sen. Mark Udall, Sen. Frank Lautenberg, Sen. Tom Udall, Sen. Elizabeth Warren, Sen. Patty Murray
As a supporter of Environmental Working Group, I am writing you today to ask that you support S. 809, the Genetically Engineered Food Right-to-Know Act. I believe I have the right to know what I am eating.
More than 90 percent of Americans support efforts to label genetically engineered foods. Japan, Australia, the European Union and China already require labeling of genetically engineered foods.
Genetically engineered foods are becoming more widespread in American food. More than 70 percent of processed foods in our grocery stores contain genetically engineered ingredients.
That's why I am sure I should have the right to know — and choose for myself — what foods I eat and offer my family.
Thank you for supporting the Genetically Engineered Food Right-to-Know Act!
